Brittney Griner's Wife Reacts as Sun Star Becomes WNBA's All-Time Blocks Leader
Brittney Griner’s milestone capped a dominant week for the Connecticut Sun, as she became the WNBA’s all-time blocks leader. On Monday against the Chicago Sky, Griner recorded four blocks while scoring a team-high 14 points to help the Sun win 92-63. The center surpassed Margo Dydek’s former record of 877 blocks, finishing the game with 878 career blocks. At age 35, Griner is averaging nearly two blocks per game and is on pace to be the first player to reach 900 blocks this season, with a potential 1,000-block mark by 2027 if she extends her career. The WNBA highlighted the achievement in posts on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Griner’s wife, Cherelle Griner, also reacted publicly. Cherelle and Brittney Griner met at Baylor, married in 2019, and welcomed their first child, Raymond Bash, in 2024.
