Broncos CB Abrams-Draine 'ready for challenge' of replacing Surtain

Broncos rookie cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine is stepping in for Pat Surtain II after the star suffered a non-contact right ankle injury in the 24-14 loss to the 49ers last Sunday. Abrams-Draine, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft and chose No. 31, didn’t initially understand the reaction from some Denver fans because Justin Simmons previously wore the same number until his release in March 2024. Simmons quickly supported him. With Surtain and fellow corner Riley Moss (rib injury) both out, Abrams-Draine and second-year Jahdae Barron are expected to start against the Los Angeles Chargers.
