California Baptist men's basketball team falls in Kyle Getter's coaching debut

California Baptist University opened its season Tuesday with a new-look roster and a new coach, falling 71-63 to North Florida in the nonconference opener at the Fowler Events Center in Riverside. The Lancers entered with momentum from last year’s Western Athletic Conference Tournament title and a first March Madness berth in the Division I era, but only three players return and the entire staff is new. Jordan Müller led CBU with 15 points, yet North Florida took control with size inside, outrebounding CBU 41-31 and winning the points-in-the-paint battle 42-20. The loss snapped California Baptist’s 19-game home win streak.
