Chargers lose 2 tight ends to IR before Week 3 game vs. Bills

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without two tight ends against the Buffalo Bills after both were placed on injured reserve. Coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that David Njoku (fibula injury) and Charlie Kolar (forearm injury) suffered injuries during Sunday’s 26-14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Both are expected to miss at least four games, leaving Oronde Gadsden II as the only healthy tight end on the team’s 53-man roster. The injuries compound an offense that has started 0-2 and invested heavily at the position in the offseason. Njoku signed a one-year deal in May after Cleveland, while Kolar received a three-year, $24.3 million contract in March from Baltimore. Harbaugh also said Kayode Awosika (fibula) and Dalvin Tomlinson (hamstring) are expected to miss time, and Trevor Penning is set to start at left guard if Pipkins can’t play.
