Cleveland Native and Former NFL Player Calls Out Jared Verse's Recent Comments
A Cleveland native and former NFL offensive lineman, LeCharles Bentley, criticized Jared Verse’s recent comments after the Browns’ 27-6 loss to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Bentley argued that Verse has been loud off the field while not producing enough on it. Verse, who joined Cleveland this offseason and was initially seen as a leader, had been active in media and in team interactions, including helping younger players such as recently drafted offensive tackle Spencer Fano. Through eight games, however, Verse has recorded 18 combined tackles (10 solo) and four tackles for loss, with no sacks, though he has six quarterback hits. The piece also cites Verse explaining his lack of impact by saying the defense isn’t getting enough 3rd-and-longs to create stats. The Browns return on Sunday, Nov. 8 for an away game vs. the Saints at 1:00 p.m. EST at Caesars Superdome.
