Climate Adaptation Blueprint Launched For Soccer Tournament Organisers

Football for Future has launched the Playable Future Blueprint, aimed at helping organizers of major soccer tournaments embed climate adaptation into infrastructure, funding and legacy programs. The report warns that extreme weather is increasingly disrupting when and where matches are played, putting community clubs and grassroots pitches under disproportionate strain. It points to rising temperatures, flooding and drought as already affecting football access and facilities worldwide. Following the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America—where hydration breaks were introduced and several matches were delayed by rain or thunderstorms—the blueprint proposes three funding pathways, including integrating resilience into new designs and creating dedicated support for vulnerable communities.
