College football polls then vs. now: How entire NCAA Top 25 changed rankings in massive shakeup
Week 7 delivered a reshuffle across the college football landscape after five top-10 teams entered the slate and several fell, including No. 1 Georgia’s upset loss to Auburn and No. 7 Texas’ second straight defeat. Sunday’s new AP Top 25 didn’t just swap individual positions—it produced a brand-new top three. Compared with the preseason, Oregon dropped from No. 2 to unranked, Texas slid from No. 5 to No. 19, Texas A&M fell out, and Oklahoma went unranked. From the Week 6 top 10, Miami becomes the new No. 1, while BYU jumps to No. 2, its highest ranking since 1984. No team kept its AP Top 25 spot in Week 7, with Florida and Arizona entering for Mississippi State and Oklahoma State. The updated top 10 includes Alabama, Texas, Florida, LSU, and undefeated UCLA (6-0), plus undefeated Power 4 teams Miami, BYU, Texas Tech and Utah.
