College Football Powerhouse plummets in ESPN's updated 2027 recruiting rankings
College Football Powerhouse plummets in ESPN's updated 2027 recruiting rankings shows how quickly offseason commitments can shift national recruiting order. During the summer evaluation period, ESPN released its latest 2027 recruiting rankings, and Ohio State fell to No. 11, after sitting at No. 8 in an earlier update earlier this month and No. 5 earlier in spring. The drop was linked to how ESPN weighs commitments to schools in the SC Next 300 list, overall class composition, positional value, and recent evaluations. ESPN noted Ohio State’s class remains strong, but that other programs gained ground through their own high-value additions and updated player rankings after the ESPN 300 refresh. Still, Ohio State’s group is led by David Jacobs, ranked the No. 1 edge rusher, plus Jamier Brown at No. 3 receiver and Kellen Wymer at No. 6 interior blocker. Elsewhere, Texas improved to No. 8 and Michigan entered at No. 9. Texas A&M kept the No. 1 spot with 23 commitments and 15 blue-chip prospects.
