Commanders' Dan Quinn believes help is on the way for injured defensive line

Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn says more help is likely on the way for his injured defensive line, with optimism surrounding Johnny Newton’s return. On Wednesday, Quinn said Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw will be missed after both went down less than a week apart, but he pointed to Newton’s progress. Newton tore a pectoral muscle in the preseason versus the Miami Dolphins and missed the first seven games on injured reserve. The team opened a 21-day practice window last week, giving them time to decide whether to activate him or place him on season-ending IR. Quinn emphasized stacking another week of practice and refining technique in the 3-4 scheme.
