Devils make it a double to remember, creating Tasmanian football history
Tasmania made football history by claiming its first VFLW win after four straight losses, defeating Sandringham by 25 points in Victoria. Playing at home against the seventh-placed side, the Devils led from start to finish, winning 6.7 (43) to 2.6 (18). Scottsdale player Dearne Krushka starred with two goals, alongside Ava Read, who marked her 20th birthday. Captain Georgia Hill said the team felt “connected” throughout the match, describing a four-point achievement. Tasmania’s defense limited early runs, including a goal created against the flow of momentum at 17 minutes 30 seconds. Hill, returning after a quad injury, scored after a holding-the-ball tackle that resulted in a 100-metre penalty. Despite Sandringham reducing the margin with two goals late, the Devils’ control was evident throughout.
