Did Tennessee football drop 'My Tennessee Mountain Home' as fourth quarter song?
xCruzo Brief
Tennessee did not play Dolly Parton’s “My Tennessee Mountain Home” during the fourth quarter of its 20-17 loss to No. 1 Texas at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 26. Instead, with the game entering the final period, the Pride of the Southland marching band performed “Rocky Top,” and the video board led fans in a V-O-L-S chant. UT athletics declined to explain why “My Tennessee Mountain Home” wasn’t used or what would replace it. The song had been used as a temporary fourth-quarter anthem after Parton died in August, and the program has also worn butterfly stickers honoring her this season. Tennessee returns to host Auburn on Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
