Dream blame WNBA's lack of 'urgency' for midday Finals game

Owners of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream say the league’s lack of “urgency” contributed to a scheduling issue that put Game 6 of the WNBA Finals at 12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. In an open letter published Tuesday, Larry and Robyn Gottesdiener, Suzanne Abair and Renee Montgomery said they “would not have chosen” a midday Thursday game and that their concerns, raised about two months earlier, didn’t receive the attention they deserved. Game 6 will be played at the 17,000-seat State Farm Arena, home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. The owners said the Hawks moved their Thursday night tip-off against the Cleveland Cavaliers to 8 p.m. ET. Atlanta is seeking its first WNBA title after leading the series 2-1.
