Dublin Airport's message to passengers wearing sunflower lanyard
Dublin Airport is reminding passengers who use the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard that support is available ahead of the busy summer travel period. The airport says the internationally recognized Sunflower symbol helps staff assist travelers with non-visible disabilities who may need extra time, patience, or understanding as they move through the terminal. Dublin Airport joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network in 2024, and it states that all frontline staff have been trained to recognize the symbol and provide discreet support. For passengers with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), the airport also offers its Important Flyer Lanyard or wristband. Access requires completing an application form and providing documentation, such as a GP letter or an AsIAm card, confirming diagnosis. The service is limited to applicants with postal addresses in Ireland, including Northern Ireland, and Important Flyer holders can book complimentary Fast Track security for themselves and up to three companions.
