Elliot Laird is everywhere for Port Clinton football
Port Clinton’s junior Elliot Laird stood out repeatedly in the Rockets’ 29-13 victory over visiting Oak Harbor, making impact plays across the field. On defense, he slipped through traffic to nearly intercept a pass, chased plays from end to end, delivered big hits on the sideline, and registered sacks from the defensive front. He also covered receivers and led with relentless pursuit. Laird’s game included offensive production as well, running for a 29-yard touchdown and repeatedly getting the ball in the fourth quarter as Port Clinton tried to control the clock. He finished with at least 10 tackles and two sacks, and described enjoying the “feel” of finishing tackles. Coach Kevin Huntley calls him a hybrid—part defensive back, part linebacker—still finding his niche.
