Entering Carolina Panthers training camp, running back Trevor Etienne and wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr. face uphill paths shaped by limited rookie usage and roster competition. Etienne, who totaled 94 yards on 20 carries as a rookie, opens the camp Wednesday at the practice fields behind Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers played him on just seven percent of offensive snaps through 11 games, but he did remain “prepared” as a depth RB3 candidate. Carolina’s 2026 season begins Aug. 6 in the Hall of Fame Game versus the Arizona Cardinals, with the regular-season opener against the visiting Chicago Bears on Sept. 13. Horn debuted after starting on the practice squad, sparked a rally with a 17-yard fourth-down reception from Bryce Young, and finished with 11 catches on 15 targets for 108 yards. At 5-foot-8, he may battle John Metchie III for a roster spot among a crowded receiver group.
