Ernie Johnson Leaving 'Inside the NBA' After 37 Years

Ernie Johnson said he will step away from TNT’s Inside the NBA studio show after 37 years, with his final season concluding this year. In a video posted to X/Twitter, the 70-year-old called it “totally my decision” and said he decided it was time after concluding that the preparation load had become more of a challenge than a joy. He also cited heart issues over the past two years, including a bypass surgery, as a “contributing factor,” while stressing his health isn’t in immediate danger. Johnson said he won’t retire from broadcasting, adding he’ll still be involved in March Madness and other assignments for TNT and CBS and will continue working with his production company, 32 Bowties.
