European football body declares no confidence in FIFA's Infantino after World Cup sell-off plan - AOL

UEFA moved to end Gianni Infantino’s decade-long FIFA presidency after FIFA abandoned its plan to sell World Cup profits to private investors. UEFA said the current FIFA leadership has lost its confidence and that of many in the wider football “family,” arguing the proposal involved “secret schemes on fast-track timescales” devised by individuals of “dubious benefit” to the game. UEFA’s statement came hours after FIFA withdrew the private equity plan. UEFA also said it would work with associations and other confederations to determine what went wrong and prevent a repeat. UEFA’s Aleksander Čeferin, Lise Klaveness and others cited governance safeguards and proper consultation. Infantino’s proposal collapsed after UEFA’s 55 member nations agreed to boycott the World Cup and other FIFA competitions, with CONCACAF and the AFC also opposing it.
