Exclusive: Azzi Fudd joins Project B, the international league chasing a billion-dollar opportunity in global basketball
Azzi Fudd, the No. 1 pick of 2026 and a rising star with the Dallas Wings, has joined Project B, the international league being built by a former Facebook executive and Skype cofounder, with advisory input from Maverick Carter. Fortune first reported the signing; Project B aims to debut in January with a Formula 1–style, grand-prix format across six cities including Tokyo and Valencia, Spain. The league has completed a capital raise after Bloomberg reported it sought up to $5 billion, though founder Grady Burnett called that figure 'a little high' and did not confirm the final total. The model is asset-light and offers players equity.
For Fudd, international play promises broadening experiences and global branding opportunities. She traveled with Steph Curry to Chongqing last summer and described basketball as a global sport with widespread fan engagement; the project positions itself as an off-season avenue alongside ventures like Unrivaled, leveraging sponsorships and worldwide visibility.
