FIFA denies claim that Morocco will host 2030 World Cup final

FIFA rejected a claim by Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, that Morocco will host the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup. FIFA said the decision has not yet been made and that the venue for the final will be selected “in due course.” Morocco is set to co-host the tournament with Spain and Portugal. Lekjaa reportedly told supporters at a political rally that Morocco had already secured the final, naming Benslimane and the planned King Hassan II Stadium near Casablanca. The stadium is under construction and is expected to seat 115,000. FIFA had previously denied British media reports that Gianni Infantino promised the final to Morocco in exchange for political support ahead of re-election.
