Fifa not 'selling football', will proceed with consultation process
xCruzo Brief
FIFA said it will continue its consultation process on a World Cup plan aimed at bringing private investment, despite European football’s threat of a boycott and criticism from other confederations. In a statement on Friday, Switzerland-based FIFA said “incorrect media reports” had disrupted the process, but it will still present the proposal to its 211 national member associations. FIFA would create a $20 billion subsidiary, FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), to run the World Cup and other events, offering investors a stake of up to 20%. Thrive Eternal, led by Joshua Kushner, is expected to lead the investor group.
