FIFA President Gianni Infantino is pressing ahead with plans to sell a minority, non-controlling stake in World Cup-related revenue, a move that has sparked broad backlash from football confederations, officials and fans. FIFA says it will create FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), a commercial subsidiary that would house key assets including broadcasting rights, sponsorships, ticketing, licensing and tournament commercial operations. The bid would raise up to $4.2 billion, valuing FFE at about $20 billion. Infantino gave FIFA’s 211 member associations until September 19 to opt in, offering $20 million to those who do and $10 million to those who don’t. FIFA insists governance control remains with it.
