Foreign support, drones fuel Sudan war and possible war crimes, UN probe says

A UN fact-finding mission says foreign weapons, military technology, fighters and logistics are sustaining Sudan’s conflict and enabling both sides to strike deeper into civilian areas. In a report published Thursday, the investigators said they found reasonable grounds to believe a transnational network involving individuals and entities in the United Arab Emirates, Chad, Libya and Somalia supplied the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) with weapons, equipment, logistics, training and foreign personnel. The mission also cited evidence that Colombian contractors helped operate and maintain drone systems used by the RSF, estimating the number could approach 2,000. The UN warned some attacks may amount to war crimes.
