Four-Star CB Tyler Boyd Impressed with Tennessee Football Defensive Improvements
Tyler Boyd, a four-star cornerback from Carrollton (Georgia) in the Class of 2028, said his visit to Tennessee impressed him most through defensive improvements on the field. Speaking after attending a matchup against Alabama on the Third Saturday in October, Boyd pointed to Tennessee holding the Tide scoreless in the second half and limiting them from an average above 40 points per game to 10. He also highlighted two interceptions and four forced turnovers by the Volunteers. Boyd credited the work of defensive staff, including Jim Knowles, Derek Jones, and Josh Heupel, calling the defense “spectacular” and emphasizing the takeaway production. The cornerback described the visit as his first game-day stop of 2026 and said it helped move Tennessee up his list.
