Fred Warner, Jameson Williams Handed Hefty Fines as Multiple Players Face NFL's Wrath
NFL fines for player conduct are drawing attention, and a league accountability report spotlights two cases from Week 3: San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner and Detroit Lions receiver Jameson Williams. Warner received a $23,882 fine for unnecessary roughness tied to helmet use in the second quarter after lowering his head and initiating contact with the crown while tackling Trey McBride. A separate, unflagged play in the fourth quarter led to a second fine for using a swivel-hip technique, assessed at $17,911—bringing his total to $41,793. Williams was fined $23,417 for the same category: lowering his head and leading with his helmet crown during a third-quarter play vs. the New York Jets. The report also lists helmet-use fines ranging from $7,073 to $23,882 for several players and facemask fines from $6,750 to $11,941, plus unsportsmanlike conduct penalties including taunting fines.
