Gamecocks in the NFL: Cut Day deadline update

After the NFL’s Aug. 30, 6 p.m. cut deadline, the former South Carolina Gamecocks who made 53-man rosters have been set. In the AFC West, defensive tackle Nick Barrett kept his spot with the Los Angeles Chargers after posting five tackles in his first preseason, while Tonka Hemingway is on the Las Vegas Raiders’ roster and projects as a starter. Nate Adkins survived cuts for the Denver Broncos. Defensive guard Nick Gargiulo remains with Denver but was moved to Reserve/PUP, with an ACL recovery expected to sideline him at least four games. Several other Gamecocks also secured roles across AFC divisions, including Jovaughn Gwyn at center for Baltimore and Rico Dowdle as the Steelers’ projected RB2.
