Hawks, Google Host Lady Ballers Hoop Fest
Hawks and Google host the Lady Ballers Hoop Fest to build confidence and STEM skills for young athletes. The Atlanta Hawks Basketball Academy’s fifth annual four-day summer event, powered by Google, concluded this week at Sutton Middle School in Atlanta. More than 130 girls aged 8 to 15 took part in basketball instruction alongside STEM education, mentorship, and personal development. Hawks coaches led training focused on shooting, ball handling, passing, defense, and game strategy, while Hawks alumnus Tony Delk spoke to participants about lifelong learning. Google employees also ran mindfulness sessions aimed at mental wellness and focus, with Naomi Davis saying the program is intended to build confidence and resilience, including in STEM spaces. A panel titled “Beyond the Court: How AI and Inclusivity Are Changing the Game” featured women leaders from Google and the Hawks organization.
