High school football report: Hornets face powerhouse on rare 2-game losing streak | Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Bryant’s football program isn’t accustomed to losing. The Hornets hadn’t lost a game in more than two seasons and hadn’t suffered back-to-back defeats since the start of the 2013 season. But after opening with losses of 43-42 to Benton and 44-20 against Alexandria (La.) last week, Bryant sits at 0-2 and still has its toughest game ahead. Coach Quad Sanders told his players the focus is “growth,” not past results—progress takes time and you don’t become your best overnight. Bryant will host Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy on Friday night at War Memorial Stadium for the inaugural Patriot Bowl. St. Frances won the first Overtime Nationals High School Football Championship last season and is 2-0 this year, with recruits including Anthony Sweeney (No. 20), Raylaun Henry (No. 30), and Jermaine Smith Jr. (No. 49).
