Hornets trade LaMelo Ball, Josh Green to Timberwolves for Naz Reid, draft picks, AP source says
The Hornets trade LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Timberwolves in a major roster reshaping deal anchored by Naz Reid and multiple draft assets. Charlotte will receive Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (in 2028, 2029 and 2030) and three future second-round picks (in 2029, 2032 and 2033), according to an AP source familiar with the talks. The agreement, first reported by ESPN, is pending league approval. It is also expected to be tied to Minnesota’s earlier trade sending Julius Randle to Brooklyn, creating an NBA-record trade exception of nearly $41 million for Charlotte. Ball, 24, averaged 20.1 points, 7.1 assists and 4.8 rebounds across 72 games last season and has three years remaining on a $203.9 million designated rookie contract. The Hornets plan a Thursday news conference at which GM Jeff Peterson is expected to address the move.
