Huskies Have Been Hot and Cold With Ioanes, With Third One Up

UW's pursuit of a third Ioane underscores a recruiting saga around the same surname from three states. Five years ago Olaivavega Ioane from Tacoma flipped from UW to Penn State amid a coaching shakeup, later earning first-team All-America honors and going 14th overall to the Baltimore Ravens in the 2023 NFL Draft. Three months ago Jon Ioane, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle from Tustin, California, committed to UW on March 26 after resisting Penn State and other offers. Now Utah-based edge Jag Ioane, 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, visited Montlake on June 5 after starring for a 12-2 Orem High team. UW offered him December 8 and has pursued him since January, leaving open the possibility of pairing him with Jon in Montlake.
