Influencer who sparked outrage for snatching baby wombat from its mother in Australia sentenced in separate Wyoming case

Samantha Strable, the Australian influencer whose viral video showed her snatching a baby wombat from its mother, has been sentenced in a separate Wyoming hunting case. On Thursday, the 26-year-old, who goes by Sam Jones online, received 12 months of probation in Sublette County Circuit Court—about 80 miles outside Jackson Hole—after pleading no contest to hunting without a guide. She also received a 180-day jail sentence that was suspended and was ordered to pay an $800 AUD ($575.40) fine. Prosecutors dropped seven charges, including allegations involving unlicensed hunting, closed seasons, and fraud-related counts. Strable had been arrested Nov. 21 after an anonymous tip claimed she kept buying resident tags despite not living in Wyoming for over two years.
