Inside Week 1 of CIAC football: Points proven, win No. 400 and All Hail

Week 1 of the 2026 CIAC football season is complete after the past two days of action, with Saturday’s slate now finished aside from five games. The opening stretch has already produced familiar performances, surprises, and at least one unusual scene involving a motorcycle escort. New Britain, the Class LL No. 1 seed last year after going 8-2 and then losing 35-0 to Norwich Free Academy, rebounded Friday with a 28-12 win over defending Class MM champion Windsor. Quarterback Billy Seymour scored two rushing TDs and Camani McDaniel added a rushing score; Xayvian Crespo returned a fumble for a 12-yard touchdown. Bunnell and Notre Dame Prep also posted major Week 1 results.
