Isaiah Johnson brings big chip on his shoulder - and an even bigger game to Texas basketball
Isaiah Johnson arrives at Texas with “a chip on his shoulder” and a heavy role as the Longhorns open their season Monday night at Moody Center against Chicago State. The 6-foot-2, 182-pound Colorado sophomore committed first when coach Sean Miller was building a point guard room, citing the staff’s vision and the return of 7-foot center Matas Vokietaitis. Johnson also pointed to recruitment momentum, noting he felt teammates would want to come play with him. Texas added Colorado’s playmaker plus TCU’s David Punch, Auburn’s Elyjah Freeman and Tennessee’s Amari Evans, while Mikey Lewis from Saint Mary’s will miss time after a fractured foot. Johnson previously shut out in the first half of his college debut, then scored 24 points after halftime.
