Jürgen Klopp holds Germany talks: 'I'm more than recharged, I'm ready'
Jürgen Klopp says he is more than recharged and ready, confirming he is in negotiations to become Germany’s coach after Julian Nagelsmann’s resignation. Klopp spoke from New York on Magenta TV, where he said the federation has approached him and that talks will take time due to his contract as head of global soccer for Red Bull’s network of clubs. Nagelsmann stepped down on Friday, four days after Germany lost on penalties to Paraguay in the World Cup last 32. Klopp, who last coached Liverpool in 2024 after saying he was running out of energy, said he now has the drive for another role. He emphasized that Germany needs “intensive talks” and sweeping changes, noting the team has failed to reach the last 16 in three consecutive men’s World Cups. He praised Nagelsmann as an “excellent coach” and said the deeper problems require fundamental transformation regardless of who leads them next.
