Jake Golday Gives Vikings Defense Big Training Camp Update

Jake Golday is expected to bring a “do-everything” mindset to the Minnesota Vikings’ defense after the team used its second-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft on the rookie. Speaking to reporters on Aug. 1, Golday said the transition has been about learning the defense’s “flow,” including different spots, packages, and his responsibility. He plans to earn playing time by being versatile under defensive coordinator Brian Flores, studying linebacker positions and taking reps in multiple roles. Last season at Cincinnati, Golday posted an 82.4 PFF defensive grade on 681 snaps, with 70 solo tackles, 18 total pressures, four sacks, and a 106.5 passer rating allowed in coverage targets, plus 10 missed tackles. He emphasized practice film and on-field work, including conditioning and pre-play responsibilities.
