A Louisiana judge cleared LSU to include some former NFL players after issuing a preliminary injunction against the NCAA in an eligibility dispute. East Baton Rouge Parish Judge William Jorden ruled Thursday night, the day before LSU had to submit its 105-man roster to the SEC. The move comes as the SEC recently warned of significant potential penalties for football and basketball programs that sign ex-pros. Jorden said he weighed sanctions against both the SEC and the NCAA but declined to impose any at that stage. The ruling followed a nearly nine-hour hearing near LSU’s campus in which athletes testified about their reasons for seeking another year in college sports. Two former NFL players—Zxavian Harris of the Saints and Dae’Quan Wright of the Browns—were among those who appeared.
