New York is set to crown the Knicks with a ticker-tape parade on Thursday, described by Mayor Zohran Mamdani as potentially the largest in city history. The celebration is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. near Battery Park and proceed up Broadway through the Canyon of Heroes, ending at City Hall where players will receive the keys to the city. Knicks legends Walt 'Clyde' Frazier and Patrick Ewing are expected to participate, and Mike Breen of MSG Network is slated to emcee the City Hall ceremony. Alicia Keys has been tapped to perform, in a celebration that marks a historic championship drought ending after 53 years.

City officials plan to deploy about 10,000 police and 650 sanitation workers to manage the parade and cleanup of potentially tens of thousands of pounds of debris. The ticker-tape tradition began in the late 19th century, emerged from 1886 to celebrate the Statue of Liberty dedication, and became city-organized in 1919, expanding to aviation, war, music, and sports celebrations over time. The Knicks’ parade will be the 210th in the city’s history, following numerous historic parades, and reflects a peak moment of public celebration in a city known for its iconic celebrations.
