Letdown: Davie loses home opener
Davie’s 2026 home opener began with momentum after a 42-29 win over Pinecrest in the Brian Hinson era, but Oak Grove flipped the script early and won 40-23 on Friday. Davie fell to 2-2 while Oak Grove improved to 3-1. Hinson said the team wasn’t the better side, citing Oak Grove’s preparation and offensive scheme, and he stressed Davie must tackle better. After a 43-yard kickoff return by Mason Driver, Davie turned the ball over on downs at the Oak Grove 33. Offensively, Davie’s triple-option struggled, and the War Eagles trailed 26-8 at halftime, including nine passing yards in the first half. Quarterback Grayson Treadway led Oak Grove’s scoring burst, finishing 17-of-26 for 265 yards and six touchdowns, including a 51-yard TD pass to Lathan Pruitt to open the third quarter.
