Lane Kiffin’s LSU debut, delayed but not derailed, ended with a 51-10 win over Clemson at Tiger Stadium. Kiffin’s up-tempo offense rolled early: LSU led 31-3 at halftime after outgaining Clemson 336 yards to 54 and recording 21 first downs to Clemson’s one. Sam Leavitt posted 230 passing yards and a touchdown plus 113 rushing yards and two rushing scores. Edge rusher Jordan Ross returned an interception for a touchdown. The game was pushed back nearly two hours by a lightning delay, but a sellout crowd of 102,000 still packed “Death Valley.” LSU finished with 644 total yards and limited Clemson to one of its worst losses in about 30 years. Clemson said it failed to stop the run and set the edge.
