LSU's First College Football Playoff Ranking Will Show How Much Work Remains

LSU’s first College Football Playoff ranking of the 2026 season is scheduled to be released Tuesday, and it’s expected to show how far the Tigers still have to go. Entering Week 9 after eight games, LSU is 6-2 and has won two straight, including bounce-back wins after a loss to Kentucky. The Tigers opened with a 51-10 victory over Clemson and followed with a 45-14 win over Louisiana Tech, but also fell 32-24 at Ole Miss and lost 35-34 to Kentucky in overtime. LSU’s résumé includes strong wins over Texas A&M (35-6) and Mississippi State (31-0), though the committee will weigh loss quality.
