Marcus Mariota injury: Commanders QB to locker room vs. Colts

The Washington Commanders’ quarterback situation is worsening after Jayden Daniels was sidelined with a dislocated left elbow. Marcus Mariota, who started for the second straight game on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts in London, is now headed to the locker room following an awkward sack and an apparent knee injury. The team listed him as questionable to return with a knee injury. With Mariota unavailable, Washington turned to rookie third-string quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis. The article notes Kaliakmanis is a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, began his college career at Minnesota before transferring to Rutgers, and had preseason numbers of 24-of-37 for 294 yards, securing the QB3 role over Sam Hartman.
