Meet Eli Whitney, the Daily Camera's new CU football reporter (column)

Eli Whitney returned to the University of Colorado in fall 2022 and began studying as the CU football program endured a 1-11 season. Four years later, he’s back on campus for his first media availability as the new CU football reporter for the Daily Camera and BuffZone. Whitney, born in Denver and raised in the Bay Area, chose Boulder after being set on Wisconsin in high school. He highlights the program’s extremes—Karl Dorrell’s October firing after an 0-5 start, Deion Sanders’ December hire, sellouts and celebrities, and the 2023 near-miss at the Big 12 title. He says Boulder support isn’t tied to record; he points to Oct. 15, 2022, when Colorado beat Cal 20-13 in overtime and students stormed Folsom Field.
