Merino football picks up its second win

Merino football earned its second win on Friday, overwhelming Monument Academy 72-6 after entering the game with only one victory in its first three weeks. Earlier, the Rams beat Rocky Ford 58-0, but then faced back-to-back challenges against top programs: they lost 50-6 to No. 2 West Grand in Week 2 and fell 47-10 to Estes Park in the following week. A year ago, the Rams finished 3-6, with then-junior Zavier Trenkle recording 209 passing yards on 16 completions and 866 rushing yards plus seven touchdowns. Their next game is Friday at No. 18 Akron, starting at 7:30 p.m.
