Atlanta fans now have an official identity for the city’s new women’s pro soccer team. The franchise will be called Atlanta City FC and was unveiled publicly with its colors, crest and branding for the first time by Channel 2’s Tom Regan. Owned by philanthropist and Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank, the club becomes the 17th expansion team in the National Women’s Soccer League. Blank secured the franchise with a $165 million expansion fee announced in November. On Sunday, officials shut down part of Peachtree Street for the reveal. The team will share Mercedes-Benz Stadium space with Atlanta United and the Falcons, while a $100 million training facility is under construction in Marietta.
