Michigan Football lands its first commit of the 2028 recruiting class

Michigan Football secured its first commitment of the 2028 recruiting class when special teams coach Kerry Coombs sent the pledge signal on social media Saturday evening. The commitment came during “Victor’s Weekend,” with multiple 2027 targets expected on campus, but it marked Michigan’s earliest grab for the 2028 specialists. Ryan Jung, from Milton (Georgia) High, announced the decision after being formally offered earlier in the week and receiving a full scholarship offer from Coombs on Tuesday. Jung visited Ann Arbor during spring camp in April and is ranked as the No. 1 kicker nationally next cycle by Kohl’s Kicking, a position-focused system separate from 247Sports and Rivals. Kohl’s scouting cited his 18 points in field-goal charting and 108.95 kickoff charting at the 2026 Kohl’s Underclassman Challenge, plus prior showcase results including a 68-yard top kickoff and 3.9 seconds of hang time.
