Milan Momcilovic chose Kentucky in part because of the roster pieces already in place
Milan Momcilovic chose Kentucky in part because of the roster pieces already in place, according to his recruitment story as he returned to college. After withdrawing from the NBA Draft pool in mid-April, Momcilovic’s decision came later when he officially announced his return to school on July 1 to Kentucky. The report says St. John’s, Louisville and Arizona were among the programs competing for him, but Kentucky had a roster of 13 players when he was ready to decide and lacked a wing shooter of his caliber. Coach Mark Pope said Momcilovic fits Kentucky’s system and is a “very important piece,” adding that the other pieces already in place fit him well. Momcilovic previously shot 48.7% from three for Iowa State in 2025–26, and Kentucky expects his presence to complement playmaking from Malachi Moreno, along with guards Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins.
