NBA transactions roundup: Kevin Huerter returns to Pistons, reports say
The Detroit Pistons plan to re-sign wing Kevin Huerter to a three-year, $27 million contract, according to multiple outlets on the first day of NBA free agency. Free agency opened Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET, allowing teams to negotiate with players not on their rosters. The Pistons acquired Huerter, 27, at the trade deadline from the Chicago Bulls in a multi-team deal that also involved the Minnesota Timberwolves, and they also received a first-round pick used to draft guard Ebuka Okorie. Earlier in the season after the trade, Huerter struggled to find his role and missed games due to multiple injuries, but averaged 11.5 points and 38.2% from three over the final 11 games he played. Other reported Tuesday moves included Luke Kennard agreeing with the Phoenix Suns on a two-year, $13 million deal; Keon Ellis joining the Brooklyn Nets for two years and $18 million; and veteran Zach Collins staying with the Chicago Bulls on a two-year, $17 million contract.
