Nets GM Sean Marks reveals what will determine when Brooklyn gets aggressive with assets

Despite being projected as one of the NBA’s worst teams for the third straight season, the Brooklyn Nets say they’re not rushing to spend their stockpile of tradeable assets. General Manager Sean Marks tied the timing of any major move to player development and roster evaluation. He specifically mentioned Egor Demin, Nolan Traore, and Julius Randle as part of the group whose progress would determine whether the team feels players are exceeding expectations, including with additional rookies to be added this year. Marks also emphasized that opportunities from other teams and free agency can’t be predicted, so Brooklyn will keep flexibility. The Nets have 13 first-round picks over seven years, nine tradable, projected to lead the league with more than $60 million in cap space next summer, and no guaranteed money beyond 2027-28.
