NFL News: Insider Provides Update on Likelihood of Aaron Donald Unretiring, Rejoining LA Rams
Aaron Donald’s potential return from retirement became a more tangible scenario for the Los Angeles Rams after the team acquired edge rusher Myles Garrett. NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported that Donald’s comeback is “closer than ever,” noting that more people inside the Rams organization have a “growing sense” that Darnold will play next season—without any specific timeline for a decision or for when he would rejoin. The report highlights how teams may be able to ease veteran re-entries during the season, including a hypothetical ramp-up from 10–20% of defensive snaps to 60-plus% later on. In his final season at age 32, Donald recorded 31 pressures, 23 quarterback hits, 16 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks across 16 regular-season games. He also earned first-team All-Pro honors for the eighth time and would give Los Angeles a defensive front with two players reaching 110-plus career sacks if he returns.
