Not a top 5 player': Analyst calls Caitlin Clark 'a media popularity pick' for All-WNBA team

Caitlin Clark was named to the All-WNBA First Team for the second time in three seasons after the WNBA announced its teams before Game 4 of the Finals on Saturday. She joined Kelsey Mitchell of the Indiana Fever, A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces, Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty, and Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx. However, sportswriter Chuck Modiano argued Clark’s case doesn’t match other First Team players, calling her selection “a media popularity pick.” He cited win shares ranking—Wilson first with 9.4 and Clark 18th with 5.0—while defending his use of full-season stats against accusations of cherry-picking.
