Notorious bandit, Auta Yankuzo posts cash obtained from kidnap ransom on TikTok

Auta Yankuzo, identified as a notorious bandit, posted alleged ransom money on TikTok, according to conflict reporting shared by Bakatsine on X. Bakatsine said the photo was uploaded to Yankuzo’s TikTok account on Tuesday, while his claim was made on Wednesday. The post suggests the image may not reflect a very recent payment, because the ground appears “too dry” for the present timeframe, implying it could have been taken during an earlier ransom delivery. Bakatsine noted growing concern about armed bandit groups using social media to publicize cash and influence. The development comes amid broader warnings that kidnapping for ransom remains one of Nigeria’s most serious security challenges, particularly in the North-West and parts of the North-Central. Attacks and abductions have continued to be reported across multiple states despite sustained military operations against criminal gangs.
